Brentford striker Ivan Tony has been hand an eight-month ban from football for 232 betting offenses
. As a result, the 27-year-old will not play for club or country until his suspension expires on January 16 next year meaning.
A statement from the FA read: “Ivan Tony has been ban from engaging in football and football-related activity for an period of eight months ending on 16 January 2024, fined £50,000 and a warning to the Football Association. Future Gambling Offenses
Brentford have acknowledge the penalty and will decide their next move once a full ruling is receive by the Board.
The FA allowed Tony to return to training with the team for the final four months of his ban, or from September 17 onwards

The FA confirm in December that Tony was charge with an additional 30 breaches of the Gambling Rules between 2017 and 2019. In total he committed 262 betting offenses
, however the FA withdrew 30 of those offenses and Tony admitted to the remaining 232
. Canthorpe United, Wigan, Peterborough and Brentford during the time he committed the breach.
He has two years left on his contract and his last appearance came in a defeat to Liverpool on 6 May.
